What is Sophos Endpoint?
Sophos Endpoint (powered by Intercept X) is a security solution that protects computers, laptops and other devices from malware, ransomware, exploits and advanced threats. It includes deep learning, anti-exploit, anti-ransomware (CryptoGuard), EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) and XDR (Extended Detection and Response) capabilities.
Which operating systems does it run on?
Sophos Endpoint is compatible with Windows and macOS. There is currently no official Linux client in the standard branch.
What happens when Sophos detects a threat?
The endpoint records the detection in the system status dashboard and in the event logs. Events requiring manual action are flagged with the necessary details. If the threat is ransomware, CryptoGuard attempts to restore encrypted files automatically.
How long does installation take?
Installation usually takes 10-15 minutes, depending on internet connection speed.
Can I install Sophos Endpoint on a server?
No. The standard endpoint software is not intended for servers: the installer detects the operating system and does not install the agent on servers.
How is it managed from the console?
Sophos Central is the unified cloud platform for managing endpoints and other Sophos products: monitoring, updates, interventions and policy enforcement across all devices from a single interface.
Does Sophos Endpoint slow the computer down?
No. Sophos Endpoint uses lightweight machine learning technologies, designed to protect without noticeable slowdown during normal work.
Does it integrate with other security systems?
Yes. Through Sophos XDR (Extended Detection and Response) the endpoint integrates with firewalls, email security and other Sophos products. Data flows into Sophos Central for a coordinated view of IT security.
